The Iron Spiral Stair Kits Hit the Big Screen and Television

BROOMALL, Pa., March 13, 2000 — Have you ever watched a movie or television show and wondered where they got parts of the set? It may have been a picture, an end table, or even a chair that you liked, but had no idea where it came from. Well, The Iron Shop¨, the leading manufacturer of spiral stair kits, can tell you where spiral stairs that have appeared in numerous blockbuster hit movies and popular weekly television programs have come from — one of its six showrooms across the United States.

For example, on the wildly popular FOX television series “Ally McBeal”, the metal spiral stair that appears in Ally’s apartment came from The Iron Shop. So did the one on NBC’s “3rd Rock From the Sun”, ABC’s soap opera, “Port Charles”, and MTV’s “The Real World” - Boston. But the fame does not stop there. The Iron Shop’s spiral stair kits have also appeared on the big screen in blockbuster hit movies.

Most recently, one of The Iron Shop’s metal spiral stair kits was painted red and appeared in “Austin Powers — The Spy Who Shagged Me”. Another claim to fame happened when one of The Iron Shop’s spirals set voyage in the movie “Titanic”. It was aboard the submarine that carried the crew searching for Titanic, an elderly Rose, and her granddaughter, as they probed the ship’s watery grave. The Iron Shop’s stair kits have also appeared in “Batman Returns” and “Philadelphia”.

In addition, many famous Hollywood actors and actresses have purchased spiral stairs for their homes from The Iron Shop.

“Our stairs are extremely popular,” says Michele Cohen, director of marketing. “Our customers will see a spiral in a movie or on television and ask it if it is one of ours. Oftentimes it is,” she continues. “If an individual sees one of our stairs in a movie or on television and would like a replica for their home or office, we can usually do it for them.”

Since 1931, The Iron Shop has enjoyed a reputation for outstanding design and fabrication of custom-built spiral, curved and floating stairs. Today, The Iron Shop has grown to become the leading manufacturer of spiral stair kits, with over one hundred thousand satisfied customers worldwide. The Iron Shop’s main plant and showroom located just outside Philadelphia, has five regional showroom/warehouse locations near Los Angeles, Tampa, Houston, Chicago and New York City.
