The Iron Shop is a Proud Sponsor of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix for a Second Year

BROOMALL, Pa., May 6, 2003—The Iron Shop, the leading manufacturer of spiral stair kits, is a proud sponsor of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (PVGP) for a second year in a row. The race, which is celebrating its 21st year, will be held at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20.



Sanctioned by the Vintage Sports Car Club of America, the PVGP is one of the most widely attended vintage race events in the United States, drawing more than 300,000 spectators. The event is unique because it is the only vintage race in the nation that is held exclusively on city streets over a 2.33 mile twisting course. The course has five 180-degree corners (hairpin turns), nine additional turns, and a quarter mile straight-line finish. Presented by the volunteer run Pittsburgh Grand Prix Association, the PVGP is both an entertainment and charity event. Funds for the event are raised through corporate sponsorships, program advertising, patron parking and the sale of memorabilia. Admission to the event is free. All monies raised during the race go towards the Allegheny Valley School and the Autism Society of Pittsburgh.

The Allegheny School is an organization serving children and adults with mental retardation and physical handicaps. The mission of Allegheny Valley School is to provide quality programs and facilities to help individuals with mental retardation to function to their full potential and live with purpose and dignity.

The Autism Society of Pittsburgh provides information, referral and advocacy services for autistic individuals, their parents, families and professionals who work with them.

Over the years, more than $1.6 million has been shared by the two organizations.
