The Iron Shop Sponsors Driver in the All-Star Truck Series
BROOMALL, Pa., July
2, 2003The Iron Shop is a proud sponsor of All-Star Truck Series driver Chris Varzal. Varzal, who is in his fourth year racing, has been involved in the sport for the past 17 years - primarily working in the Pits.
From a very young age, Varzal knew he wanted to race. It was the Petty/Pearson crash that intrigued me. The cars crashed and were immobile. Whoever limped across the finish line first won the race, said Varzal. Pearson won. I knew from that moment on, I had to be a part of it.
This season, Varzal will be racing in the 2003 Mid-Atlantic Series (a division in the All-Star Truck Series). During the series, Chris will make stops at Thompson International Speedway, Wall Township Speedway, Langley Speedway, Seekonk Speedbowl and Waterford Speedbowl. Chris may also run some races in the 2003 Northeast Series (also a division of the All-Star Truck Series).
Chris races a 2001 body-style Chevy Silverado with a GMC 108 chassis and 305 V8 engine. His car number is 12.
Chris earned a degree in communications and business administration from the County College of Morris. He also holds a degree from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting. Professionally, Chris restores antique cars.
While he is not racing, Chris enjoys riding his Harley Davidson, going to the beach and going out with friends to see bands play. His favorite food is filet mignon, favorite television show is The Sopranos, and favorite color is white.
When asked what his ultimate racing goal is, Chris responds, getting behind the wheel of something that says NASCAR racecar on the fender.
Chris who is originally from Chester, New Jersey, still resides there today.
