Testimonials
We just want to say what a pleasure it was to work in all aspects of attaining our spiral stair system through
the Iron Shop. From start to finish your team was the best we could have hoped for. Between questions in the
beginning, helping us to make a good decision, educating us on procedure and integrity in your salesmanship and
workmanship we are truly pleased. Already we have had several friends over to see it and we have heard nothing
but fascinating compliments.
If you ever need a referral please always feel free to use our name. There are not many companies like yours
left in this nation that still take such a high level of pride in their work.
Thank you again for everything.
I just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed working with The Iron Shop AND how
much we are enjoying our new spiral stair.
It is absolutely beautiful. After our neighbors saw it and used it, they admitted
that they were amazed at how sturdy and solid it is. (Apparently, the only ones
they had used were not constructed as well as the one y'all made for me!) The powder-coating
is perfect, too!
I also wanted you to know how much I appreciate all the help and coordination you
provided to make this process go so smoothly.
Thanks, again, for all your help!
As an old retired corporate nomad, I have never been known for lightly giving out
accolades. However, this year my wife and undertook the most ambitious remodeling
project of our almost 50 year marriage—that being the layout, design, ordering,
finishing and installation of our two-story, 6-foot diameter Oak Spiral Stair Kit
from The Iron Shop.
Our project started in the fall of 2006 when we were returning from a cruise out
of Port Canaveral, FL. We had seen an ad listing one of your showrooms and sales
offices as being in Venice, FL, so we crossed the state to see what your company
had to offer.
On our arrival, Christine Dodge gave us the deluxe tour and provided all of the
answers to our many questions and provided us with literature to bring home. All
too often when people just walk into a business off the street they get the “Ho
Hum” treatment. But not with Christine! Over the next several months
she went out of her way to answer our many questions and provide every speck of
information we required. The order was placed with Christine. And while we were
always impressed with her professionalism, that was just the beginning of our wonderful
experience with The Iron Shop.
You certainly know how many parts are involved with this type of order. I am more
than pleased to say our only problem was two or three missing bolts with the total
order, and those were immediately provided.
In closing, I want you to know my wife and I have the highest regard for your personnel
and the quality of the products your company produces. To be honest with you, if
I were still in business I would have tried to hire several of them.
Many thanks to you and all of your staff for making our 2007 a special year.
It looks great and was so easy to put in. We installed it in about 30 minutes and
that included carrying it down to the backyard. We are so pleased with it. The measurements
were right on. I can't believe we did this from 1,200 miles away. Thank you for
all the phone calls and all of your concerns. I will highly recommend The Iron Shop
to our custom home builder here in Columbus, Ohio. The pictures do not do it justice.
It's better than we ever imagined and our new home is now complete. Please use the
pictures for your web site and thanks again.
I just want to say what a pleasure it was dealing with your company. Your website
made it easy to envision and price my staircase, then you were extremely helpful with
your follow up conversations. The staircase came surprisingly quickly. The local shipper
came in an appropriately sized truck (we live in the historic district with a maze of
one way, narrow streets) and was very helpful, un-crating the stair and was patient while
we lugged the pieces to our courtyard. The staircase, while complicated, went right together,
and we are extremely pleased with the results!
I wish to thank you for your assistance on our spiral stair project. I selected
your company after receiving three competitive bids for the staircase. We found
your company a pleasure to deal with during the build cycle with great communications.
You provided on-time delivery, a quality product, and a professional installation
crew. We are very pleased with our selection.
I would highly recommend The Iron Shop. We recently completed a very challenging
project utilizing a spiral staircase built by The Iron Shop. From shop drawings
to installation, the whole process went very smoothly.
I Want to thank the staff at The Iron Shop for a job well done. Above and beyond
my expectations. Can't wait for our next project.
Just had to show off our beautiful spiral staircase, thanks to The Iron Shop!
Your customer service was outstanding, the shipping was fast and inexpensive
(even to Canada and we live on an island!) and my husband and our contractor
were able to put it together within a few hours! And, the best thing of all,
by dealing directly with your company, we saved, literally, thousands of dollars
than by dealing with a local company who were charging so much mark-up!! So,
thank you, thank you, thank you...we are thrilled with our new staircase. We
originally had a deck without a staircase and had very limited space, so the
spiral is so space efficient! You guys are awesome. Cheers!
Working with the Iron Shop for our stairs was a pleasure. We found them to be very
professional, and diligent in providing us with a product designed for our specific
need. The install was on time, on quote, with the finished product exceeding expectations!
Cannot say enought good things about dealing with the Iron Shop.
Thank you for everything. We couldn't be happier. The stairs are fantastic and the centerpiece of the house.
The Iron Shop rocks!!!
We have recently built a four apartment building, and because of the high elevation
of the roof in one of the one bedroom apartments, we decided to put in a sub-floor
over the bedroom to give it an additional bedroom. To access this bedroom, we decided
to put in a spiral staircase to save space. We searched the internet and found plenty
of companies. After seeing what The Iron Shop had to offer, and viewing their installation
kit demo, we were very impressed.
We called The Iron Shop right away, gave them the floor elevation, and emailed them
a picture of where we wanted to install the stair. They worked out all the details
and gave us a quote and delivery date. The spiral staircase came as a kit and included
an instruction booklet and DVD showing how to install the stair. All components
were safely packed. I think anyone with one helper can put these stairs together.
The Iron Shop makes it that easy for you.
Our staircase is a conversational piece. We must give credit to Ron Cash, Christine
Dodge and The Iron Shop. We have no regrets. It's picture perfect. Everyone that
comes to our apartment is so impressed. I must say my wife was skeptical about ordering
it at first because she was not sure if it was going to be as sturdy and strong
as her sister's stair, that is homemade; but she loves it and wishes she had put
them in the other apartments. The finished touch is just so beautiful.
I wanted to let you know how happy I am with your process from start to finish. The quality
of the spiral staircase exceeded my expectations!
It is an honor to have our stairs posted on your website! The stairs were beautiful
and affordable, and that enabled us to do what we wanted as far as design. The stairway
is the focal point in our dream home!! EVERYONE comments on how beautiful they are!
I cannot thank The Iron Shop enough for the quality and service we received!
It was a pleasure speaking with you regarding upkeep and maintenance of the steel spiral staircases I
purchased from you in 1996. These staircases have added beauty and function to our home for the past 12
years. I have had several questions over the years and am pleased to say that it is never a problem to pick
up the phone and speak to a real, live, courteous and knowledgeable person at your company. I am not sure if
you are a family business, but you act like one and in this day and age of impersonal customer service that is
an extreme compliment.
We are delighted to recommend The Iron Shop. First, your perseverance was
truly the reason we moved forward—remarkable follow-through. But more importantly,
your company's attention to detail, the willingness to put customer needs first
and the great value on price and delivery, made this a great experience all around.
We are extremely happy with the quality and service. It took us a total of 10 hours to
put it together. The price was much better than competition and we love the outcome!
Donald and I wanted to tell you all how much we enjoy the spiral stairs you made
for us.The quality and finish are outstanding. Since we will use the stairs daily,
it was important to buy a product whose durability and beauty would endure. We feel
that The Iron Shop has delivered on all counts. Kudos to your staff for completing
a difficult delivery and installation, requiring a crane and some onsite tweaks.
Your folks are professionals.
We recently incorporated a very prominent feature into our home while completing
an addition that provides access from a Loft/Office area to a Recreation Room on
the ground floor. The feature is a 5'5" Oak Spiral Stair Kit purchased, assembled
and stained by The Iron Shop out of its Ontario, CA showroom.
My original concept for the addition foresaw the use of a spiral stairway to reduce
the footprint of 'stairs' to connect the rooms. Having done my research on the internet,
amongst many manufacturers, I decided to select a kit from The Iron Shop as I foresaw
the advantages of dealing with a local supplier to answer questions and provide
guidance.
My spouse and I drove to Ontario, CA to see for ourselves some models The Iron Shop
had on display. While there we met with Sergio Ochoa, a sales representative for
the company. He ably answered the initial questions we had and walked us through
the different models. We quickly decided on a wooden stairway versus a steel one
for our particular needs. As our architect was designing our addition, he too had
some questions regarding clearances and loads to finalize the design of the spiral
stairway. Sergio provided the answers in a timely manner. Our purchase order contract
included the assembly of the stair kit. Sergio provided a sub-contractor that specializes
in the assembly of spiral stairs to assemble the unit, which included the optional
railing along the exposed edge of the Loft, on each side of the stairway—with
matching handrails and balusters. The contractor did a very good and professional
job and we were very satisfied with the finished product.
After its assembly I was ready to address the final step of staining & varnishing.
My plan on this matter was to find a local contractor to do the work. I was very
concerned with the possible lack of expertise of local painting contractors to undertake
this job which required multiple applications of stain and varnish on an extensive
surface area. Once again, I touched base with Sergio and he was able to recommend
someone who was very knowledgeable in staining staircases. I contracted directly
with the person he recommended and needless to say he did an outstanding job.
Our overall experience in dealing with The Iron Shop, and Sergio in particular,
has been most satisfying on all fronts and the end product exceeded our expectations.
Here is a photo of the spiral staircase I purchased from you. It turned out beautiful.
You guys really have a great product. I found someone to do the tile work on the
staircase landing and as you can see the whole installation looks like it came with
the house when I bought it.
The Simpsons really wanted to thank you for the outstanding experience we had purchasing
our spiral staircase with the Iron Shop. From start to finish the process was very
easy. Chris in the office worked with us throughout the ordering procedure and was
very helpful throughout the project. Ron at the shop was very professional and helped
immensely in our dealings with permitting.
All my peeps really enjoy the ease of climbing the stairs and the safe feeling structured
stair case during climbing to the roof deck floor level. As far as the powder coating
is concerned, we highly recommend the aluminum stair product and the powder coating
paint procedure. The paint is holding up very well even with the ocean and coastal
environment.
In closing, our final Iron Shop experience with our stairs, was the install procedure.
How a 20 foot stair could fly through the air over our house and land inside a 62
inch radius hole in perfect timing and not damage our home was a true miracle.
I'm an architect who designs fine custom homes in the Carolinas. Although the styles
may vary from “Arts and Crafts”, to “French Country Gothic Mountain
Village Style”, my clients' homes all share in the FINE, CUSTOM and FUN description.
On this mid-century modern rustic bungalow remodel, The Iron Shop's 6' aluminum
stair, powder-coated in a stainless steel color, was perfect to complete the description—especially
the “FUN” part. It works as a hinge connecting the existing home and
a semi-detached garage/apartment addition, to the main entry and terrace below.
The stair helps make this home fine, custom and fun.
The spiral is in our courtyard in the Historic Landmark District of Savannah, GA.
I think that it goes perfectly with the surroundings and the courtyard design. Your
help in designing the staircase was invaluable and it arrived in perfect condition
and was really simple to install. Corkscrewing it through the courtyard gate was
an experience but that also worked.
The spiral is very sturdy, as you said it would be, and we have received many compliments
on the way it looks. That is important since the house was built in 1888 and the
restoration was designed to return the house to its original look. The spiral looks
as though it was meant to be there and fits in perfectly with the overall house
design.
Thank you again for all of your assistance and please thank everyone who made it.
They did a great job!
The Iron Shop was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end; from ordering to
installation and follow up. The staircase is first rate. Not one person has toured
the gallery without commenting on how great the spiral stairs are, and how sturdy
and secure they feel. I would recommend The Iron Shop to anyone interested in a
spiral staircase.
The kit arrived on time with everything in it. There were also a number of extra
small parts. We spray painted the parts white before assembly. This of course took
some time to dry. The entire assembly took five days, two skilled handy men and
me!
It looks like an art exhibit and we are absolutely delighted.
The aluminum hand rail looked daunting but it turned out well and was easier than
we thought. The DVD was very useful.
Looking forward to installing the wooden treads. Thank you so much for the templates.
Back in 2004, I started a renovation project on a 100 year old Baltimore Rowhouse.
With very limited space, I decided to go with a spiral stair. To my surprise, I
couldn't find anywhere in my own city that makes or sells them. The internet led
me to The Iron Shop, which had better pricing because they let you assemble the
stair yourself.
In 2007 when I added an addition and a rooftop deck to my home, I called on The
Iron Shop again for two more stairs, and installation was even easier than the first
time. I was also able to upgrade the original stair with oak treads and a metal
handrail, all with The Iron Shop's easy to assemble parts. The results can be seen
at http:/owhousebaltimore.com.
They turned out great and everyone that sees them can't believe they weren't professionally
installed. My experience with the Iron Shop in Ontario, CA was great. They were
always there to answer my questions and provide help. I had wanted to put spiral
stairs on our deck for years and I'm so glad I finally did it. I wish I would have
done this years earlier as it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Now my friends
that see it are considering doing the same at their houses.
