Behind the Design

A continuous curve is one of hardest shapes to make in solid wood. The Carpenter Spiral series features a wooden handrail crafted through wood lamination. Thin layers of hardwood, cut and bent to the spiral’s exact radius, is then pressed and glued together into a single curved piece. Built precisely, the seams between layers disappear, and the hand travels one unbroken line from the top step to the bottom.

Treads and other wood components are joined through master carpentry techniques so the entire structure moves as one continuous form, not a set of parts fastened together.
