Standard Floating

The Standard Floating series uses our standard railing, rather than our multi-line railing system used in the Multi-Line Floating series. It can be customized with a range of spindle options, creating a modern, minimal, uninterrupted stair line that lets light into the room.

Materials can be mixed as well, pairing wood and metal across treads, railings, handrails, and more to create an architectural centerpiece with balanced warmth and industrial edge.

Behind the Design

Without traditional risers, floating stairs are able to open sightlines within a room, but also free the floor space beneath the stair itself.

One of our favorite ways to use this reclaimed space is to hold a bench, a reading chair, or potted greenery, all without disturbing the structure above it. Because light also passes freely through the open steps rather than stopping at a solid riser, rooms read larger, brighter, and more connected to the space around them.

Specifications

Most configurations are built with a concealed mono stringer, a single beam engineered to carry the full load of the stair. This is sized to the stair’s specific rise, run, and load requirements.
Double-stringer floating stairs are also available for extra wide staircases
Open riser spacing meets code, keeping the gap between each tread under the threshold that allows a 4-inch sphere to pass through

What's the difference between the Standard Floating and Multi-Line Floating series?

Both series share the same open riser design and structural principles. The railing is what sets them apart. The Standard Floating series is built with a range of spindle options, while the Multi-Line Floating series uses a unique multi-line rod railing system. Standard suits a home built around an existing railing style, whether traditional spindles or a slimmer metal profile, while Multi-Line is inspired around a mid-century modern aesthetic.
